1. Set up a routine. Make sure that you are on a schedule during the week. Setting up a specific block of time for homework and studying each night will help you complete everything on time. Sticking to a schedule can also help this busy season feel a lot less chaotic.

2. Work in a quiet, electronics-free area. Even if it means rearranging some furniture, make sure you have a place in the house where you are away from the television and internet detractions. When you’re studying, your attention shouldn’t be split between your work and your favorite show or Facebook. You’ll need to turn your phone off too, no text messaging! You’ll remember what you read better if you give it your full attention.

3. Get some sleep. Getting eight hours of sleep each night will make you feel smarter when you’re awake, and keep you from losing points with your teachers by dosing-off in class. If you’re rested, you’ll be able to concentrate better and your memory will improve too. Also, you’ll look nicer for those school pictures.

4. Take notes. That’s right, it isn’t enough to simply read the material assigned, you have to understand and remember it too. So, when reading your assigned chapters each evening, take some notes. Try writing a one or two sentence summary of each section or chapter, and mark or highlight the most important information.

Traveler’s Spanish: The experience of traveling to a foreign country is so much richer when you have the ability to chat with the locals. Be able to order food, get directions, shop, make hotel reservations, navigate airports and train stations, and make small talk in Spanish before your next vacation. This six-class course opens up new worlds of diverse and exciting experiences.

An Intro to Spanish: For those who have never had Spanish before, or had it so long ago that they remember only a few words, we offer an introductory class that emphasizes listening, speaking, reading, and writing. At the end of the course you will be able to converse easily in the present tense, read basic passages and articles, write emails and announcements, and have a good command of basic Spanish grammar. This ten-week class meets twice weekly, and prepare you for Intermediate Spanish.

An Intro to Spanish Literature: For those who have already studied the basics of the Spanish language, we offer the opportunity to study the works of great authors like Cervantes, Unamuno, Cortázar, Márquez, Allende, and poets like Lorca and Mistral in a small-group setting.
